Josh Cares netted more than $75,000 at its annual Fire and Ice fundraiser. Clad in safari attire, the 175 guests arrived at the hosts’ Indian Hill home where they were transported to a luxurious tented camp for “A Gourmet Affair Through Southern Africa.” The funds raised will support two of the six professionally trained Child Life Fellowship positions at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. These fellows provide support and companionship for hospitalized children whose parents cannot be there with them.

The Art of Making Memories, a benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati, raised more than $110,000. The May 5 event at the Taft Museum of Art attracted about 360 guests. In a sure sign that the party season has arrived, the Rusty Griswolds rolled out the music for Spring Fling. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser at Coney Island will benefit the Cincinnati Horticultural Society and the de Cavel Family SIDS Foundation. Ron Hollmann and Nichole Wilson were event co-chairs, with Kelly Buetsche, Eric Tepe, Dan Bergmann, Jamie Kircher, Andrew Surber, Drew Tilow, Saundra Richey and Lorie Schneider as committee chairs.

Photos by Maslov Photography Was it the lingerie runway show, the confluence with Cincinnati Fashion Week, the popular Key in to Art and WAG It! events that oveflowed into “Exhibitionism,” the design by Joe Rigotti, multiple bars on all levels, dinner-by-the-bite, dancing, separate lounge areas, a glowing oxygen bar, photo booth, video projections, body and face painting, dance platforms, a bathtub with a live model “bather,” live music and a “peep show” in the cage area? Who knows, but “Exhibitionism” raised $28,000 for the Weston’s 16th exhibition season.

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra was joined onstage by the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra in early May. This annual joint concert gives the talented young musicians of the CSYO the opportunity to perform on the grand Music Hall stage with some of the world’s best musicians and Maestro Paavo Järvi. Famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma returned to the Music Hall stage for the first time in 25 years in May, performing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra to a sold-out crowd. During intermission, CSO board chair Melody Sawyer Richardson and president Trey Devey presented departing maestro Paavo Järvi with the title of Music Director Laureate. Paavo Järvi’s two final concerts as music director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra were followed by farewell receptions with audience members. The parties for all ticketholders were held in the Music Hall lobby with hors d'oeuvres, desserts, music and a champagne toast to the departing maestro. After the toast, Järvi signed discs and other memorabilia as he bid farewell to fans and friends.
