A flurry of activity surrounded John Morris Russell’s return to Cincinnati as conductor-designate of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. Josh Cares at Green Diamond Gallery 2010

All-star infielder Kevin Youkilis hit a home run for kids in December when he teamed up with the nonprofit, Josh Cares, for a special event at The Green Diamond Gallery in Montgomery, which houses a one-of-a-kind collection of baseball memorabilia. The Boston Red Sox star, a Sycamore High School and University of Cincinnati graduate, established “Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids” to help children in the New England area. Josh Cares Child Life Fellowship program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center works to ensure that no critically ill or injured child suffers through a lengthy hospitalization feeling alone. Also attending were New Orleans Saints player Troy Evans, former Detroit Tiger Jon Warden and Paul O’Neill, who played for both the Reds and the New York Yankees. WCPO's Denny Janson served as emcee. The event raised nearly $50,000 for Josh Cares.
